A WRITER'S LIFE…
January, 2004
Happy New Year!
2004 is here and my hope and prayer is that this new year will bring as many blessings as I've received in 2003. My holiday was absolutely wonderful and some of the greatest gifts I received didn't come wrapped in pretty paper.
Family and friends made last month special for me. I shed a ton of happy tears and got the chance to not only tell all my loved ones just how much I loved them, but had the chance to spend time with them as well.
Of course I did my usually holiday things--I broke out the eggnog, played Vanessa William's Christmas CD and allowed my children to decorate the tree anyway they wanted. I indulged in pretty wrapping paper, took my time making bows from gold ribbon and laid the presents under the tree with care.
I left those cookies and a glass a milk out on Christmas Eve for Santa even though my oldest knew the whole Santa thing was a myth and I cranked up the fire place on Christmas Day, scooping up endless piles of discarded wrapping paper. I fussed around the kitchen getting everything ready for the Christmas Dinner and smiled tears of joy as family and friends unwrapped the special gifts I gave them.
I ate too much and went on to eat some more and took personal portraits as my invited guest posed in front of the roaring fire. I slowed danced with my husband to the Whispers "Have Your Self a Merry Little Christmas" and closed my eyes as everyone laughed at me and snap pictures.
But mostly I appreciated that God gave us all another chance to come together for the joyous season. That was truly the greatest gift.
As I write this, the Christmas decorations have all been packed away, along with the artificial tree. The New Year is here and there is a soft quiet peace inside my home. We were all blessed during the holiday and I look forward to many more in 2004. I hope your holiday was a wonderful and joyous as well.
This month I will be joining fellow author Brandon Massey at his release party in Atlanta as he celebrates the release of his new book "Dark Corner" and a week after that, I will be hanging out with the Imani Book Club as they discuss my latest "A Journey To Here" and Eric Jerome Dickey's "The Other Woman."
Until next time, may your life be filled with love, light, and understanding. Until next time,
Peace and Blessings,
Margaret
